Hi, my name is Tamara and I guess you could say I am the creator of Hanley Country Canines. Hanley Country Canines aka HCC came into existence due to my love of dogs and passion for animals. Over 25 years ago we adopted our first pair of labs, Hershey, a chocolate female, and Shasta, a yellow male. They were such great dogs with such wonderful looks and personality we decided to have a litter of pups. This was my first experience in the joy of raising puppies.
In 2001 we moved to our current location. We had lost Shasta early on due to epilepsy and Hershey was an old dog of 12 years. Our children were still young and my husband was ready for a new hunting partner. We decided it was time to bring on a new pup. After much searching we found a litter of AKC Chocolate Labs. Here we found the foundation of the Hanley Country Canine dogs, Sir Sullivan of Hanley. Sullivan or Sulley, proved himself to be everything we could want in a family dog. His keen intelligence made him easy to train and his mellow temperament made him excellent with the kids. To top off everything he was the best looking Chocolate Lab we had ever come across.
Two years after we brought Sulley home we decided it was time for another puppy. Enter Lady Annabelle of Hanley, a gorgeous yellow AKC Labrador female. As Annie grew she proved herself to be very smart, if a little independent and birdie as they come. In addition, she, like Sulley proved to have a mellow, laid back personality. It was the amazingly laid back personalities of both dogs that made us decide to breed them. So many of the labs we had been around were what we call "bounce off the wall labs". And if they weren't super hyper, they were so laid back that they were not very birdie. We wanted to see if we could breed a mellow lab that could be both a great hunting dog and a great family dog. Success! The puppies were amazing!
It was with this first successful litter that HCC took off. The puppies from Sulley and Annie were all amazing and continued to impress. We kept a puppy from the first litter, a black female, Good Golly Miss Molly of Hanley, and it is with her that we continued the lines. We now are raising Molly's great grandbabies.
At the same time our HCC Labs were doing so well, I discovered the Labradoodle. After much research and consideration, I decided to start an HCC Line of Labradoodles. I found an amazing AKC Standard Poodle Female, Princess Roxianne Phantom Diva of Hanley. We raised 3 litters of labadoodles out of Roxianne and Sullivan and they were wonderful. We are now on our 3rd generation and they continue to impress.
As the years passed with Roxianne, my love for poodles began to grow. I decided to try a full poodle litter. These furry little puppies stole my heart, and the heart of my husband as well. We decided to keep a pup from this first poodle litter. Enter Hanley’s Jess A Red Renegade aka Jesse. Jesse is our current stud. He passes on his intelligence, good looks, athleticism and temperament to his pups.
